2 Interpretation
  • In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,—

    Board means the Valuers Registration Board constituted under this Act

    Council means the Council of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers constituted under this Act

    Institute means the New Zealand Institute of Valuers constituted under this Act

    Minister means the Minister of the Crown who, under the authority of any warrant or with the authority of the Prime Minister, is for the time being responsible for the administration of this Act

    Minister: this definition was substituted, as from 1 July 1998, by section 54(1) Ratings Valuations Act 1998 (1998 No 69). See sections 55 to 63 for the savings and transitional provisions.

    Public valuer means a registered valuer who holds himself out as willing to make valuations of land for members of the public

    Register means the Register of Valuers kept under this Act

    Registered valuer means any valuer for the time being registered under this Act

    Registrar means the Registrar of the Board appointed under this Act

    Rural valuer

    Rural Valuer: this definition was repealed, as from 13 December 1968, by section 2(1)(a) of the Valuers Amendment Act 1968 (1968 No 115).

    Urban valuer

    Urban Valuer: this definition was repealed, as from 13 December 1968, by section 2(1)(a) of the Valuers Amendment Act 1968 (1968 No 115).

    Valuer means a valuer of land

    Valuer-General means the Valuer-General appointed under the State Sector Act 1988.

    Valuer General: the Valuation of Land Act 1951, was substituted for the Valuation of Land Act 1925, repealed as from 1 January 1952.

    Valuer General: this definition was substituted, as from 15 December 2005, by section 3 Valuers Amendment Act 2005 (2005 No 117).
